Banh mi were sensational! Slay guys! We split the bbq pork and crispy pork belly banh mi and seriously contemplated ordering additional banh mi they were that good!
Pretty tasty overall. I do think more prawn and vermicelli noodle could be added to the summer rolls though, as mine was 90% green salad.
We were in London and keenly headed into Viet Eat, chasing the Banh Mi - having heard it was good. The place is a cosy Vietnamese street food style place, that prides itself on delivering authentic flavours and good service. The menu boasts a variety of Vietnamese classics, from Pho to Bun Hue, and of course, the Banh Mi. There were 4 of us, and it turned out I snagged the last Banh Mi before they ran out. I ordered what is called the “Signature” - it sounded like the right one to try on my first visit. It was a delicious crusty baguette with Vietnamese sausages, spiced pork, pâté, mayo, and soy sauce. I liked the flavours and let everyone have a bite. I’d come again and try some of the other Banh Mi’s for sure. We got a plate of salt and pepper tofu to share, which was the right amount of crispy on the outside and tender inside, seasoned well and there was a bit of chilli on the plate that complimented it well. Others in the group who couldn’t get a Banh Mi pivoted and ordered a braised pork belly rice plate, a crispy pork belly rice plate, and a lemongrass chicken noodle salad bowl. Each person enjoyed their dishes - I had a little go of each and the braised pork belly was a definite winner. For drinks, we opted for the homemade lemonade, a refreshing palate cleanser. My daughter and I love trying deep-fried ice cream when it’s on the menu. Our old favourite place back in Australia did an amazing one, and we compare them all to that one. This one was good, so if you like it and have room, grab one. One of our group requested their dish without coriander, mentioning they have the genetic variation that makes it taste like soap to them. It is apparently called the OR6A2 gene variation. I love coriander, but find things like this about humans very interesting. The staff were great and accommodated his request and other dietary requirements without issue. Viet Eat delivers on its promise of authentic Vietnamese street food in the heart of London. The food is good, comes out pretty quickly, the service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is nice. A good spot for a yummy lunch as the hustle and bustle of the global city continues outside.
Was craving Vietnamese food and happy to come across this place. Lots of great options and I had the bun Bo hue and duck salad plate. Both dishes were spectacular, and especially the Bun Bo Hue with perfect flavor and spice. Great and friendly service as well.
Came here for lunch as the hubs was raving about his new fave lunch spot, I got the bun bo hue as that’s one of my fave noodle soups. It was a perfect level of spice, noodles had a good chew to it, broth was tasty and meat cuts were nice. Hearty lunch meal that hit the spot for me. Hubs ordered the wok fried pho and he said it was nice. He’s also had many a banh mi here and other dishes and he keeps coming back for more which is a good sign from him! He also enjoyed the Vietnamese ice coffee. Overall a nice dining experience for a quick lunch. I found the staff polite and had no issues with anything. Oh and, hubs said the spring rolls here are the best he’s had so far
